Course Handicap Adjustment
Q. I usually play from the white tees and my Course Handicap is 12. I want to play from the blue's. What should my Course Handicap be from the blue tees?
A. You will need to determine the Course Handicap from the Course Handicap Table for the blue tees, this calculation chart is typically found in the clubhouse or on the tee.
You can figure out your Course Handicap by taking your Handicap Index and multiplying it by the Slope Rating of the tees you are playing. Divide that number by 113, and round to the nearest whole number.
For example:
12 x 130 = 1560/113 = 13.8 or 14
According to the USGA "The definition of Course Handicap, as found in Section 2,. is "Course Handicap is the USGA"s mark the indicates the number of handicap strokes a player receives from a specific set of tees at the course being played to adjust the player's scoring ability to the level of scratch of 0-handicap golf. A course Handicap is determined by applying the player's Handicap Index to a Course Handicap Table or Course Handicap Formula."
